Pastor Roland de la Paz, Leader of the Asian Division at the IMS, performed the baptism. The local temperature in Okinawa, Japan, was 30 degrees Celsius on Sabbath, May 30, 2026, which could be considered as the perfect weather for a Christian baptism.
Okinawa, the second-largest city in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan, located approximately 20 kilometers (12 mi) north of the largest one and capital city Naha, had a population of 142,752 citizens, as of October 1, 2020, and a total area of 49.00 square kilometers. The Okinawa Prefecture, Japan’s southernmost and westernmost prefecture, includes 160 islands (49 of them inhabited) in three main island groups – the Okinawa Islands, the Sakishima Islands and the Daitō Islands, which comprise a maritime zone of nearly 1,000 kilometers east to west and 400 kilometers north to south. The Japanese government established Okinawa Prefecture officially in March 1879.
