Mother Dayana Patiño and her 18-day-old son Juan David Trujillo were saved miraculously by God after a stay of 32 to 34 hours under the rubble of an 8 story apartment building during the two deadly earthquakes in the city of Guaira, Venezuela, BBC confirmed on June 29, 2026. The mother and the baby landed on a copy of the Bible after the collapse of the upper floors and this circumstance softened the hit of their falling and saved their lives. While the mother Dayana Patiño suffered a broken knee, her son Juan David survived without a single scratch.
God’s protection for Dayana Patiño and her 18-day-old son Juan David reminds us of the experience of Hagar and Ismael in the desert when “God hath heard the voice of the lad” (Genesis 21:17) and of the Lord’s revelation about the angels who protect the little babies: “…in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 18:10). God’s noble rescuing the mother and her baby is a confirmation of the Lord’s statement in Isaiah 59:1 as well: “Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear”.
