A very important Christian analysis on the consecrated church elder’s duties was presented in Spanish by Pastor Tzvetan Petkov, General Conference President at the IMS, during the traditional Q&A session held on July 15, 2025, and transmitted via YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUpnWqrKHAw. Pastor Humberto Avellaneda, General Conference Vice President at the IMS, was the moderator of the event.
Via a Power Point presentation, Pastor Tzvetan Petkov explained that the position of the consecrated elder came as divine institution (Numbers 11:16-17) from the time of Moses. In addition, the consecrated elder, as a yearly confirmed helper of the pastor, serves the Lord in the local church or, by the plea of a pastor or a field president, in a neighboring church, with ten duties permitted, including giving the Lord’s Supper, performing the Christian baptism, blessing the church (in the absence of the pastor) and praying for a child, and four duties not imposed on him, such as performing a Christian wedding ceremony, serving as a president of a union, division or the General Conference of the church, participating in the consecration of an elder or a pastor, and organizing or reorganizing a field, a union or the General Conference.
