Three souls, a sister and two brothers in the faith of Jesus, were baptized this month in Cambodia, Southeast Asia, the Facebook site IMS Asian Division confirmed today, on Thursday, July 10, 2025. Pastor Roland De la Paz, President of the Asian Division at the IMS, performed the baptism. Pastor Woonsan Kang, Leader of the Youth Departament at the General Conference of IMS, attended the event as well. The daily temperature in Cambodia reached today 28 degrees Celsius which was the perfect weather for a Christian baptism.
Cambodia, officially the Kingdom of Cambodia, a country in Mainland Southeast Asia with an actual area of 181,035 square kilometers and a today population of approximately 17 million people, whose capital and most populous city is Phnom Penh, was founded in 802 AD, as Jayavarman the Second declared himself king, uniting the warring Khmer princes of Ghenia under the name “Kambuja”. In 1863, Cambodia became a French protectorate, however, in 1953 the country declared independence from France. In 1993, the monarchy was restored with Norodom Sihanouk reinstated as King, and the first post-war election was coordinated by the United Nations Transitional Authority in Cambodia (UNTAC).
