This earthquake, as well as Russia’s war against Ukraine and Hamas’ war against Israel causing famine in the Gaza Strip, let us remember the sign about Christ’s second coming predicted in Matthew 24:7 by God the Lord Himself: “For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there will be famines, plagues, and earthquakes in various places.”
In addition, Christ specified that “all these things are the beginning of birth pains” (Matthew 24:8).
Despite these devastating events, we, as Christians, could apply by Christ’s grace God’s instruction in Hebrews 12:14 – “Follow after peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no man will see the Lord”, because the peacemakers “shall be called children of God” (Matthew 5:9, last part).
