Three souls, a sister and two brethren in the faith of Jesus, were baptized in Cotonou, Benin, West Africa, on February 18, 2023, Pastor Simón Ágbey, Director of Benin’s Missionary Field, confirmed today, on March 7, 2023.

Cotonou, Benin’s largest city with its over two million inhabitants in the larger urban area, is known as the economic capital of the country and lies in the southeast of Benin, between the Atlantic Ocean and Lake Nokoué.

The name ‘Cotonou’, which means ‘by the river of death’ in the Fon Language, was pronounced ‘Kutonou’ at the beginning of the 19th century, while the city itself was founded in 1830 by King Ghezo of Dahomey as a small fishing village.
