The new church building in Fiji, an island country in Melanesia, part of Oceania in the South Pacific Ocean, was completed, Pastor Anton Salavyov, Oceania Division Leader at International Missionary Society (IMS), announced yesterday, on September 21, 2022, on Facebook. The construction of the church building continued in different time periods, according to the financial support granted by the General Conference and fields and unions worldwide, Pastor Anton Salavyov added.
Fiji which is located approximately 1,100 nautical miles (2,000 km, 1,300 mi) northeast of New Zealand, includes an archipelago of more than 330 islands – of which 110 are permanently inhabited – and more than 550 islets, with a total land area of approximately 18,300 sq km (7,100 sq mi). About 87 percent of the total population of 924,610 live on the two major islands, Vitti Levu, Fiji’s largest island, and Vanua Levu, and three-quarters of Fijians live on Viti Levu’s coasts: either in the capital city of Suva; or in smaller urban tourism centers such as Nadi, as the interior of Viti Levu is sparsely inhabited because of its terrain.
