Hassan Al-Khalaf, an 11-year old Ukrainian boy from Zaporozhie, southeast Ukraine, had to travel alone by train and on foot over 620 miles (1000 km) from his native city to his relatives in Bratislava, capital city of Slovakia, with a plastic bag, passport and a phone number written on the palm of his hand, in order to escape the Russian troops’ siege of his native region, because his widowed mother could not leave his grandmother at home, Radovan Stoklasa from Reuters reported yesterday.
By the way, we should be thankful to God that He included this experience, the travel of a 12-year old boy without his parents, according to Luke 2:42-43, in His plan of salvation, that young people might repeat it successfully in all times of this world’s history. Furthermore, we see in the Ukrainian boy’s story that Hassan Al-Khalaf’s mother keeps the fifth of the Ten commandments as well, staying at home to care for Hassan’s grandmother. The successful journey of the 11-old boy Hassan Al-Khalaf is a fulfillment of God’s promise in 1 Samuel 2:30 – “Those who honor me I will honor”.
