Four souls, two sisters and two brothers in the faith of Jesus, were baptized recently in Egypt, a developing country with the second largest economy in Africa, spanning the northeast corner of Africa and the southwest corner of Asia via the Sinai Peninsula, Pastor Pablo Hunger, Leader of the Evangelism Department at the General Conference of the IMS, who performed the baptisms, confirmed yesterday, on August 5, 2025, via Facebook. The daily temperature in the city of Cairo, Egypt’s capital, reaches today 29 degrees Celsius, which is, of course, the perfect weather for a Christian baptism.
With over 107 million inhabitants, Egypt is the third most populous country in Africa and the 15th most populated in the world, while its total area reaches 1,010,408 sq km (390,121 sq mi). The current name of Egypt is Misr, while the Classical Arabic Misr (Egyptian Arabic Maṣr) is directly cognate with the Biblical Hebrew Miṣráyīm (מִצְרַיִם / מִצְרָיִם), meaning “the two straits”. Christianity was brought to Egypt by Mark the Evangelist in the 1st century.
